چکیده
Peritonitis is one of the main complications peritoneal dialysis and accounts for considerable mortality hospitalization. It usually treated with intraperitoneal antibiotherapy, as it best way to achieve high concentrations at site infection. We report a case an 86-year-old female patient end-stage renal disease under continuous ambulatory dialysis, who was admitted our hospital complaints intense diffused abdominal pain. The effluent culture yielded Staphylococcus hominis only sensible vancomycin linezolid. She diagnosed peritonitis secondary infection oral linezolid without catheter removal. Adequate fluid concentration (between 3 20 µg/mL) achieved antibiotic therapy maintained 21 days clinical analytical improvement. According knowledge, this first in patient, successfully has had levels monitored effluent.

Successful antibiotic treatment of Pseudomonas stutzeri-induced peritonitis without peritoneal dialysis catheter removal in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
Pseudomonas stutzeri is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped, motile, single polar-flagellated, soil bacterium that was first isolated from human spinal fluid and is widely distributed in the environment. It was isolated as an uncommon opportunistic pathogen from humans, and a few cases of P. stutzeri-induced peritonitis have been reported in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis...
متن کاملSimultaneous peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion and removal in catheter-related infections without interruption of peritoneal dialysis.
Catheter-related infections result in high patient morbidity, the need for temporary haemodialysis, and high costs. These infections are the main cause of limited technique survival in peritoneal dialysis. We introduced a protocol for the simultaneous peritoneoscopic insertion and removal of peritoneal catheters in patients with catheter-related infections. Peritoneal dialysis was continued the...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Idiopathic Eosinophilic Peritonitis by Oral Corticosteroid Therapy in a Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Patient
Eosinophilic peritonitis is a well-described complication of peritoneal dialysis and is often associated with either a reaction to the dialysis system constituent (tubing, sterilant or solution) or an underlying bacterial or fungal reaction. We report a case of eosinophilic peritonitis, which is treated by oral prednisone acetate therapy. A 43-year-old female patient developed end-stage renal d...
متن کاملOutcome of patients on chronic peritoneal dialysis undergoing peritoneal catheter removal because of peritonitis.
Peritoneal catheter removal may be clinically indicated in the management of peritonitis. The data on the course of patients undergoing peritoneal catheter reinsertion after removal for peritonitis are limited. The present study was designed to examine what happens to patients on chronic peritoneal dialysis (CPD) after peritoneal catheter removal for peritonitis. We retrospectively reviewed the...
متن کاملSurgical Intervention after Catheter Removal in a Case of Refractory Peritoneal Dialysis-Related Peritonitis
Peritonitis is the most common infection in peritoneal dialysis (PD) and has been noted to be not only a cause of mortality but also the leading cause of technique failure in patients maintained on PD. Appropriate management of peritonitis to improve patient outcome has been the focus of clinical practice. We report a case of refractory PD-related peritonitis with surgical intervention intendin...
